Overview

We have partnered with a leading Big 4 Bank to source a Senior Automation Engineer on a permanent, full time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation workflows and software for networking, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) approaches. If you are passionate about automation, scripting, and collaborating with DevOps and network teams to build innovative solutions, this role is for you.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will:

- Design and develop automation workflows and software for networking using tools like Ansible and Terraform, including custom module development.
- Collaborate with DevOps and network teams to build CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins) and automate deployments.
- Develop scripts and tools in Python to support automation initiatives.
- Leverage Docker and Kubernetes for network service automation.
- Work with databases such as MongoDB for configuration management and telemetry.
- Follow best practices in coding, version control (Git), testing, build systems, and dependency management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in code independently and efficiently.


To succeed in this role, you will need:

- Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting tasks.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible, including:
- Ansible Tower / AWX / Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- Ability to develop custom Ansible modules and plugins.
- Experience with databases (preferably MongoDB).
- Exposure to OpenShift and/or Kubernetes environments (preferred).
- Exposure to Terraform (preferred).
- Solid knowledge of Git for version control and collaborative development workflows.
- CI/CD experience using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.
- Network automation experience (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong background in developing automation that interacts with various tools and platforms using APIs or scripting.
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude.

Your typical day will involve:

- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement automation solutions.
- Writing and testing Python scripts and Ansible playbooks.
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments.
- Managing and optimizing databases for configuration and telemetry purposes.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues in automation workflows.
- Staying updated on the latest tools and technologies to enhance automation processes.
