Overview

Sestra People have partnered with a leading Big 4 Bank to recruit a Mainframe Senior Technical Lead. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to work on a multi-billion-dollar transformation program, based in the Gold Coast.If you have a passion for mainframe systems and want to lead the development of critical mortgage servicing and loan origination systems, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Lead, you will:

Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and enterprise architects to design scalable technical solutions that meet regulatory and customer requirements.
Oversee the analysis, design, development, and testing of changes to core mortgage processing systems.
Ensure the performance and reliability of CICS online transactions and batch jobs supporting critical mortgage functions.
Drive modernization initiatives, including integrating mainframe systems with digital channels, APIs, and cloud-based services.
Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for audits, compliance efforts (e.g., SOX), and data governance initiatives.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM on IBM z/OS platforms.
Experience in a technical lead position, with the ability to mentor and guide a team.
Expertise in performance tuning and debugging tools such as XPEDITER, Abend-AID, and File-AID.
Familiarity with mainframe source code management tools like Endevor or Change Man.
Exposure to Agile development and DevOps practices in a mainframe environment.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Day-to-Day

Your daily responsibilities will include:

Leading a team of developers to deliver high-quality solutions for mortgage servicing and loan origination systems.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business goals.
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of CICS-based applications and batch processes.
Supporting modernization projects to integrate legacy systems with emerging technologies.
Providing technical guidance and acting as a mentor to team members.

This role is based in the Gold Coast on a hybrid basis, with the option to work from Sydney if preferred.
